California’s Faultline

Central Coast CA

The San Andreas Fault, considered to be the most famous fault in the world, extends for about 800 miles through California – a big chunk of it runs right through the Central Coast. There are a couple of spots along its route where you can safely come into contact with it: drive across it on the bridge into Parkfield in southern Monterey County or walk along its crease near the old El Camino Real at the San Juan Bautista Mission.
