The 30-mile long San Lorenzo Valley runs from summit to sea, nourished by the San Lorenzo River that meanders through it. Logging defined this area, but now, with a lot of help from Mother Nature, the regenerated forests and recovering river make this town a place of peaceful chillin’.
The rural, rustic environment speaks to the people who live here. Independent and self-sufficient residents have created a lifestyle that honors the Valley’s remoteness while, at the same time, accepting growth and change. Highway 9, a winding, mountainous road, runs right through the Valley, bringing visitors to town.
Sandwiched between Big Basin Redwoods State Park, Castle Rock and Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, outdoor recreation is prevalent. From whitewater rafting, to hiking to nature walks, Boulder Creek is a mellow stop-and-smell-the-roses experience.
