This historic World War 1 era concrete ship sits offshore at Seacliff Beach in Aptos. She was built as an oil tanker for that war effort but never saw services. In 1929, she was towed to this area to be a heck-of-a party boat but then the Depression hit and the party stopped. Now, although both the pier and the ship are closed to the public, the ship has been repurposed as a safe haven for birds and as an artificial reef for marine life.
