Did you know: all prunes are plums, but not all plums are prunes?
Prunedale takes its name from the Prune Plum trees that dotted the landscape in the town’s early days. It’s not clear if they were the prune/no prune variety, but we do know that poor irrigation led to their demise. This small, rural town survived and showcased its agricultural legacy with a nod to this healthy dried fruit.
