On the first weekend of each month the Monterey Salinas Valley Railroad Museum is open from 10 until 4. It features their diorama of the valley's railroad and has some wonderfully informative member/docents. On the first Saturday of each month the plaza at the San Juan Bautista State Park livens up with costumed people recreating the look and activities of the people who came to this area from Europe and Mexico.
