A little known type of art called “funk art” is being exhibited at the Monterey Museum of Art. It began in the 6o’s like so many other offbeat schools of art and combines satire, social justice themes, and whimsy. Judging by the art in the exhibit it has a lot of whimsy. http://www.montereyart.org is the place for more details and some photos.
