If this name isn’t familiar, this one may be, Ed (Doc) Ricketts. He was the scientific friend of John Steinbeck and the model for Doc in the Cannery Row novel. They had many adventures and were a rich source of stories. This lab is the meeting place and headquarters for Doc’s business which collected and shipped specimens of sea creatures.
