Outrigger Races

It’s the Hi’ilani’O Ke Kai Hoe Wa’a Outrigger races at Del Monte Beach in Monterey. The teams take off through the surf, paddle furiously, and return up the beach to ring a bell. It’s a stirring sight and a great way to enjoy a day at the beach. There are a variety of age groups and the 200-300 participants range in age from 12 to >70 years of age.
