La Merienda (92nd Celebration)

Although the city of Monterey is 253 years old its birthday has only been celebrated this way for 92 years. It is a big deal, with local officials and other important people playing important roles in the celebration. There will be lots of food, music, dancing, a multi-layer birthday cake, and speeches. Costumed performers and celebrants are expected. It all takes place at the Memory Garden in Old Monterey near the Custom House Plaza. It might be the perfect setting for this event.
