Big Read (To Kill a Mockingbird)

This is a series of activities and art exhibits, showings, and activities around the reading of a single book by the people of Monterey County.  This year’s selection is “Citizen” a collection of poetry presented in an innovative way. It deals with the realities of being a member of a community of color in modern America.

It’s the movie not the book, everyone’s already reading the other book for this project. Starring Gregory Peck, this is a well received, if controversial, movie addressing some racial issues in the American South. It will be accompanied by a talk by Yhashika Lee, scholar and lecturer from CSUMB. it is cetain that there will be much to think about after this experience.
