On the first weekend of each month the Monterey Salinas Valley Railroad Museum is open from 10 until 4. It features their diorama of the valley’s railroad and has some wonderfully informative member/docents. It is located next to the Amtrak Station on Market St. Check out their website at http://www.msvrr.org
